NY Auto Show Best Cars: BMW 5 Series – Hot
The BMW 5 Series is the benchmark for mid-size luxury-sport sedans and the 2011 model continues the sporty handling flair of a BMW 3 Series while picking up as much room inside of the last-generation BMW 7 Series, especially in formerly cramped rear seat.
BMW worked out some of the design quirks on the 2003-2009 model and it may be the handsomest BMW sedan you can buy today. With prices starting in the low 50s, this is not the car for everyone. But it will be the benchmark.

BRABUS Releases ECU Tune for Mercedes’ BlueEFFICIENCY Models
Brabus, the German tuner of all things with the star on the hood, has launched a new ECU upgrade for the Mercedes-Benz 200, 250 and 350 CGI BlueEFFICIENCY models with direct-injection gasoline engines.
Equipped with the Brabus ECO PowerXtra CGI kit, the four-valve four-cylinder direct-injection engines in the C200 and E200 CGI BlueEFFICIENCY models produce an additional 26HP and 30 Nm (22 lb-ft) of torque.
On the C250 and E250 CGI BlueEFFICIENCY models, the ECU tuning helps boost output from 204HP to 230HP while peak torque grows from 310Nm to 350Nm (228 to 258 lb-ft).
As for the most powerful direct-injection gasoline engine in Mercedes-Benz’s current range, the 3.5-liter V6 unit in the C350, CLS 350 and E350 CGI BlueEFFICIENCY models gains an additional 18HP.

With every new model launched or redesigned, comes another photos comparison. the week revolves around the 2011 BMW 3 Series Coupe and Convertible LCI that was unveiled yesterday and which will go on sales this Spring.
Judging by the photos and information released, the general consensus is that BMW is looking to align some of its models to the current design language, and features like “angel eyes” are starting to become standard across the line-up.

50th Anniversary Hurst/Viper unveiled
Legendary maker of all things used to shift, Hurst has taken some time out today to unveil the car that will mark its 50th year of building specialty performance vehicles under the banner of Hurst Performance. That car is the appropriately named the 50th Anniversary Hurst/Viper.
The Hurst/Viper, of which only 50 will be made, comes only in two color combos that commemorate the official colors of the company: Black with Gold stripes or White with Gold Stripes. Of course, it wouldn’t be a Hurst car without a Hurst shifter, so these special Vipers will be fitted with the company’s new HARD-DRIVE gold anodized pistol grip shifter.
