Detroit Auto Show – 2010 Ford Shelby GT500 Coupe

The 2010 Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 replaces a scary beast of a car with a even more beastly but seemingly less scary car set to debut at the Detroit Auto Show.

With the 2010 Ford Mustang Shelby GT500, the blue oval’s SVT boys are aiming to bring you more of that swaggering badassery with less of the terror and with a modicum of actual comfort. With the new hardware, Ford took lessons learned with the Shelby GT500KR and adapted them to the new GT500. Power is up to a whopping 540 HP and 510 lb-ft of torque as a result of tuning and air flow improvement.

Inside and out, the operative words at SVT for 2010 were quality and refinement. The new Shelby shares the styling changes with its lesser Mustang cousins, but upgrades abound.

Outside the new Ford Shelby GT500 uses a different headlight cluster (HID optional) to maintain a more aggressive look set in a deeper front fascia and larger grille opening which are styling carryovers tweaked for the new car.

Ford and Shelby Automobiles announced today the launch of the new 2008 Ford Mustang Shelby Cobra GT500KR. This is the most powerful Mustang ever produced and it is inspired by the 1968 Ford Mustang Shelby Cobra GT500KR.

The “King of the Road” is powered by a 5.4L supercharged V8 producing 540 horsepower and 510 lb-ft. of torque. Power is transferred to the rear wheels through a six-speed tranny.

2011 Ford Explorer

Now, of course, that era has passed, and the final nail in the coffin comes in the form of the 2011 Ford Explorer, which, after years of speculation, has been spied on the street with new crossover-style proportions, abandoning its trucky body-on-frame construction in favor of carlike unibody.

Waaaaay back in 2001, I heard about a car that quickly became an obsession. I was young, just 23, when this car was announced and I knew I had to have one. I spent hours (at work) pouring over the specs and looking at promo photos.

I’m embarrased by it now, because if I had known as much about cars then that I know now, I would have known the Jaguar X-Type wasn’t at all competitive in its segment.

2010 BMW 5-Series GT

If the design reminds you of something, think of BMW’s 5-Series Gran Turismo and recently announced 335i Gran Turismo that will go on sale in 2011. Apparently 5-door hatchback coupes are all the rage right now! I’m not complaining, in fact, I think I even like them.

Perhaps best known for the F1 and the Mercedes-Benz SLR, McLaren’s MP4-12C and its mid-engine 600-horse V8 should quickly make a name for itself. We’ll have to wait awhile to find out though, as the latest McLaren isn’t even slated for production until 2011.

2010 Ford Mustang Teaser Reveals Taillights

Teaser photos are ok when an automaker releases one or two right before the actual vehicle is unveiled, but when Ford decided to release ten separate teaser photos of the 2010 Mustang over a series of weeks, it got a little annoying.

Either way here is the last teaser photo which shows the design of the taillights. The 2010 Mustang will officially be unveiled in a week at the LA Auto Show.

Exclusive first shots of a SHO-badged dashboard in testing outside an unknown location are the first piece of evidence portending the reawakening of the Ford Taurus SHO with the 2010 Ford Taurus.

These We don’t have any details besides these shots of a dashboard emblazoned with a SHO trim level moniker. It’s safe to guess the new “Super High Output” Taurus will have the same flavor of Ford’s wicked Ecoboost technology as that found in its platform-mate, the Lincoln MKS AWD, which would mean the same rumored 350 HP and 350 lb-ft of torque.
